OET, the English language test for healthcare professionals is now recognised by the Health Professions Councils of Namibia, giving healthcare professionals in the region an opportunity to improve their career prospects.

Healthcare professionals who pass the healthcare-specific OET to prove English proficiency will be able to apply and sit for the pre-registration evaluation for their specific profession. On successful completion of the evaluation, they will be able to practice their health-related profession in Namibia.

The Health Professions Councils of Namibia consists of five regulatory authorities established by Acts of Parliament. These authorities share a common mandate, which is to protect the Namibian public through regulated education and practice of health care professions.

OET is an international English language test that assesses the language skills of healthcare professionals seeking to register and practice in an English-speaking environment. OET is recognised by Australian and New Zealand Immigration for visa purposes and healthcare regulators in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Dubai, and now Namibia, for registration purposes.

OET CEO, Sujata Stead, says: “We commend HPCNA for their commitment to the healthcare sector in Namibia”.

“Unlike other English tests, OET test materials are based on real healthcare scenarios so employers can be confident that successful candidates have the level of English communication skills required for safe and high-quality patient care,” she concluded.
