OET opens its second test venue in Pakistan.
OET, the English language test for healthcare professionals, will be available at a second venue in Pakistan from February 2020. The new test venue will open in Karachi and be managed by AEO Pakistan, who already manages OET’s Islamabad venue.
OET (the Occupational English Test) is an Australian-developed English language test that assesses the language proficiency of healthcare professionals. It provides assessment of all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – through test material designed to reflect real healthcare scenarios.
Samia Shahzad Murad from AEO Pakistan said: “There is a huge demand for healthcare professionals in developed countries and many healthcare professionals in Pakistan attempt English Language assessment for the purpose of working overseas. Unlike OET, other tests are not specifically designed for healthcare professionals, which creates demand for OET testing in Pakistan”.
OET CEO Sujata Stead echoed Murad’s sentiments about demand in Pakistan. “We have been overwhelmed by candidates asking for more test places in Pakistan and particularly in cities other than Islamabad. We are delighted that AEO Pakistan is able to assist us in meeting the demand and are confident that they will always provide the security and candidate experience that we require.”
