Use infinitives to give reasons

When explaining the reason for an action or event use the infinitive form.

A common mistake is using ‘for +ing’ but the infinitive is the correct way to give the explanation.

   Mrs Wu requested crutches to help her mobilise after the surgery.

   Mrs Wu requested crutches for helping her mobilise after the surgery.
