Deferrals
If you are registered to sit the OET but then find you are not able to attend the test, you can defer to the next available test administration. The deadline for deferrals is three weeks before the test date. The whole application is deferred - it is not possible to defer some sub-tests and leave the application for others the same. You may defer an application once only. A deferral cannot be reversed. Additional administrative charges may apply.
To defer, you must:
- access your online candidate profile before the three-week deadline and click the 'Defer' button.
- pay a non-refundable administration fee of A$150 by credit card only (Visa or MasterCard).
- be prepared to sit the next available administration.
If you need to defer after the three-week deadline due to a medical condition and can present a medical certificate/other supporting documentation, contact the OET Centre. All medical certificates/other supporting documentation must be received no later than two weeks after the test. Additional administrative charges may apply.
Withdrawals
You may decide to withdraw your current OET application. The deadline for withdrawals is three weeks before the test date. The whole application is withdrawn - it is not possible to withdraw from some sub-tests and leave the application for others active. A withdrawal cannot be reversed.
To withdraw, you must access your online candidate profile before the three-week deadline and click the 'Withdraw' button. You are entitled to a 50% refund of the test application fee paid.
No Show
If you are registered to sit the OET but do not attend on the day of the test, we will consider it as if you sat the test. The OET Centre will retain the fee.
If you were unable to attend the OET due to a medical condition and can present a medical certificate and supporting documentation, you should contact the OET Centre. Additional administrative charges may apply.
